What is "Complex Injury"?

  • Complex injury can include:

  • Traumatic brain injury

  • Spinal injury

  • Birth injuries

  • Multiple complex orthopaedic injuries

  • Amputation

  • Psychological injuries

  • Co-existing conditions

Members of the Complex Injury Network Scotland include case managers, medical professionals, allied health professionals, lawyers, employment consultants, architects, representatives from the Mental Welfare Commission. A common thread in our work is to assist people people with complex injuries and their families/caregivers to meet 5 priority needs:

  • A person’s understanding of their situation

  • Promoting maintenance of health

  • Maintaining emotional well-being

  • Accessing social support

  • Financial stability
