CINS held our inaugural educational event on Thursday 21 February 2019 at The Corinthian Club, Glasgow. The theme for the event was 'The Future of Trauma Management and Rehabilitation in Scotland'. The host for the evening was Dr Andrew Harrison, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist at CMS Ltd, who warmly welcomed the attendees to CINS first event. Our mains speakers were; Stuart Barton of Digby Brown Solicitors who spoke about the Rehabilitation Code, Mr Angus McLean, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Lead Clinician for the West of Scotland Trauma Network, informed of the development of the Major Trauma Centres and Heather Cameron, Chief AHP Regional Services, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, discussed Rehabilitation. All talks were very informative and detailed the work that had been done to get the first two Major Trauma Centres off the ground in Aberdeen and Dundee. Edinburgh and Glasgow are in the process of being set up but there is still work to be done. Pathways through the Major Trauma Network were also discussed.
The event was well attended and allowed an opportunity to ask questions following the presentations and network during the food and drinks reception. Feedback from attendees was very positive and there was a great “buzz” in the room.
The CINS committee wish to thank the speakers and all attendees for making our first event such a success. Plans are being made for our next event and details will be made available soon.
